Adopt a Village PDF Print E-mail

african_villiages_4The Adopt-A-Village program is a tangible way to bring the COMINAD mission to Africa. Churches throughout the United States have participated in raising funds to "adopt" villages in Africa, and thus, bring clean water, health clinics, new buildings, spiritual enrichment, and other necessities to the impoverished peoples in Africa.

How do I adopt a village?

  • STEP 1: A representative of COMINAD under the Leadership of COMINAD will hold a workshop with your congregation to develop interest in adopting a village.
  • STEP 2: Representatives from your congregation will go on a short-term missions trip to help your church select a village, with the help of a COMINAD representative.
  • STEP 3: Information about the village, including the people and there needs will be brought home and discussed.
  • STEP 4: Your congregation will be offered photographs of villages and adoption guidelines.
  • STEP 5: Interested members will take a church sponsored photograph, individually or as a family. They will send this photograph, along with a small inexpensive gift and letter to their adoptee with each scheduled trip back to the village.

What are my Responsibilities?

After you have completed the steps, you are responsible for the following:

  • Praying for your adopted person each day.
  • Writing a letter introducing yourself and family to your adopted village.
  • Taking a church sponsored photo of you and your family and linking it with a photograph of the person you have adopted.
  • Sending a small gift
  • Possibly visiting the village
  • Learning words from their language and information about their country and village to show that you care.
  • Contributing to village schools and education programs
  • Contributing to support health and medical projects
